The 18th arrondissement celebrates its own harvest festival

Categories : Events, published on : 9/1/23

From October 11th to 15th, the new edition of the Fête des Vendanges de Montmartre (Montmartre Harvest Festival) takes place. This great festive occasion evokes the very specific character of the hill of Montmartre and invites you to immerse yourself in its friendly and inclusive atmosphere. Take advantage of your break at the Chess Hotel and join in with the fun!

All the character of Montmartre in a party

Montmartre boasts that it has remained a village in which the inhabitants know each other and can meet for a chat in the quiet streets. Equally charming is the fact that the quarter still has a real working vineyard. The Fête des Vendanges celebrates the harvest of this field of grapevines, a place that harkens back to the agricultural vocation of the hill of Montmartre before the village became integrated into Paris. It offers numerous concerts, artistic initiatives, parades and balls that evoke the festive and creative character of Montmartre in the days when the Parisian upper class came to have fun in the quarter’s cabarets. The famous French Cancan was danced there and artists such as Toulouse-Lautrec came to seek inspiration.

Your programme

There’s a host of ways to experience the Fête des Vendanges. You can enjoy the musical performances offered by the daily concerts of the Décibel Vendanges Festival. You can dance at the daily popular balls. Want some sport? A big night race takes place. And don’t miss the opportunity to take a guided tour of the vineyard and learn about Parisian wine production. Finally, the Parcours du Goût invites you to meet producers and food artisans who will share their passion and a feast of gourmet products with you.

The Fête des Vendanges plunges Montmartre and its inhabitants into five days of frenzied celebration. Come join them during your stay at the Chess Hotel. The Paris 2024 Games supply this year's theme: ‘The 18th Participates in the Games’!
