This autumn, the Palais Garnier invites opera and music lovers to enter the monumental world of Richard Wagner. From October 2026 to February 2027, the exhibition Richard Wagner, the Revolutions of the Ring explores the history and legacy of one of the most ambitious works in the operatic repertoire. An essential cultural experience just a few minutes’ walk from The Chess Hotel.
Behind the Scenes of Wagner’s Ring
Organised by the Paris Opera in collaboration with the Bibliothèque nationale de France, the exhibition accompanies the new production of the Ring cycle presented at the Opéra Bastille.
Composed of four operas, The Ring of the Nibelung is an extraordinary artistic undertaking. The exhibition explores the cultural and political context in which the work was created, its formal innovations and the considerable challenges involved in bringing it to the stage.
Documents from the BnF collections, together with pieces from museums and private collections, also reveal the lasting influence of the Ring on the arts.

The exhibition takes place in the Opera Library-Museum, inside the magnificent Palais Garnier.
