Quais de Seine – a romantic stroll along the water

Categories : Visit Paris, published on : 8/9/17

The quays of the Seine were made for walkers, cyclists and joggers and the tracks on the banks are now their kingdom. This UNESCO World Heritage site reopened for Parisians and tourists in April 2017. And, of course, summer is the ideal time to enjoy a romantic stroll along the banks of the Seine.

Relax on the Seine

The Quai de Seine pedestrian walkway runs for about 7 km on both banks of the river, from the basin of the Arsenal to Bastille to the foot of the Eiffel Tower on the Champ de Mars. You will enjoy all the advantages of a car-free space that covers 10 hectares. The pleasant and romantic setting is safe for cyclists and you can see the bridges of Paris from an unexpected viewpoint. A getaway on the banks of the river is a real pleasure; away from the bustle of the city traffic, cross bridges and explore islands by bike, on foot or even from a boat. You’ll also find lots of activities on and near the banks of the Seine: sport, relaxation, gourmet dining, cultural pursuits, dancing and shopping as you top up your tan under the Parisian sun.

Bars and restaurants await and many offer a takeaway service. Or, try local street food or pack a picnic to enjoy at one of the tables along the river with your partner. This summer, barges are going to be moored at the Alexandre III bridge where there will be new boarding points.

Paris as you've never seen it

See the Grand and Petit Palais from under the arch of a bridge or enjoy impressive views of the Louvre from a cruise boat. Notre-Dame-de-Paris will emerge as if by magic as you glide along – you’ll never tire of the Seine from the heart of the city to the majestic Eiffel Tower. You can reach the banks to discover some of the capital’s most iconic monuments from the port of Solferino, the port of Invalides, the port of Gros Caillou or the Arsenal basin.
