Paris is noted throughout the world as a fashion capital. So while you’re visiting the city it would be a shame to miss this global fashion event. An exhibition featuring the unmistakable work of one of the most popular French fashion designers, Jean-Paul Gaultier, has arrived at the Grand Palais. The “terrible child of fashion" will enthral you with his innovation, imagination and avant-garde sensibilities.

A one of a kind couturier

By way of needles, scissors and thread, and employing his vivid and daring imagination, Jean-Paul Gaultier seduced the world with his eclectic blending of styles and genres. The couturier began his career in the 1970s with ‘the right to be different’ as his watchword.
From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk takes us through the master couturier’s career, with pride of place given to the highlights of his trademark style and featuring punk-chic, skirts for men and, of course, that legendary corset and conical bra combo.
From New York to London via Melbourne, Gaultier now traces the thread of his career and his universe.

A bold,innovative and unique exhibition

This exhibition at the Grand Palais invites admirers of Jean-Paul Gaultier to discover his intimacy, daring and creativity in an exhibition that is an artistic statement in itself. Thus, thirty faces of models come alive with 3D mapping and new technology. Celebrities, including the designer, have lent their faces and their voices for the development of this audiovisual creation.
Visitors can see photographs, drawings and archives, excerpts from films and video clips, stage costumes, haute couture andprêt‐à‐porterensemblesfrom 1970 to 2013.
This multimedia exhibition illustrates the heights of the extravagant creations of this iconoclastic fashion designer, and we can admire it until August 3rd, 2015, at the Grand Palais.
