The Chess Hotel Paris

October, the month of the FIAC

Categories : Events, published on : 10/19/15

From 22nd to 24th October, the 42nd edition of the International Contemporary Art Fair (FIAC) opens in Paris. Nearly 200 exhibitors, more than 3,000 artists, painters, photographers and designers will take over the Grand Palais to present their latest creations. And as happiness never comes alone, FIAC extends outside the walls to reach the Docks and the City of Fashion and Design where contemporary artists and gallery owners will also take part.

Highly recommended by The Chess Hotel

Fully designed by interior designers Gilles and Boissier, whose fluid and uncluttered style give a special tone to the hotel’s contemporary setting, it would be remiss of the Chess not to advise you to visit this exceptional event. Before you rush off, be sure to take a moment to look at the hotel’s massive Cyprien Chabert fresco, which goes from the second floor to the roof.  He’s also the artist to whom we owe the fabulous friezes that adorn our bathroom doors. Alix Waline devised our entrance halls and reception while Victor Ash, the father of street art, created the work, which adorns the hotel lobby, especially for the Chess.

Contemporary art in all its forms

Artists, collectors, gallery owners, museum curators all head to the lair of contemporary art that is FIAC today. Paintings, sculptures, photographs, montages, performances and films are presented to the public and professional visitors while a large share of the event is given over to new contemporary talents.  Once you’ve explored everything that the prestigious Grand Palais has to offer you’ll find that exhibits outside its walls are just as interesting with impressive facilities at the Tuileries gardens, the Jardin des Plantes or Vendôme.  Events on the path along the banks of the Seine will delight young and old while the "nocturnal galleries" invites art lovers to see a range of proposed works and installations in a new light on the night of October 22.
