Make New Year's Eve unforgettable in Paris

Categories : Events, Flavors and Gastronomy, published on : 12/11/17

Being in Paris for New Year is already cause for celebration. However, a good meal is an essential part of a truly special evening. That's why we'd like to recommend two restaurants close to the hotel that combine pleasant surroundings with an excellent menu.

Treat your taste buds

You'll find a warm welcome at Mamou, an airy brick and wood decorated bistro at 42 rue Taibout. Its fully modernised kitchen is presided over by chef Romain Lalu and you can expect generous portions of delicious dishes like tataki of duck with miso enhanced leek-vinaigrette and pickled turnip or squid stuffed with shrimp. The bistro serves high quality wines by the glass. For a cosy atmosphere and gastronomic cuisine try La Fontaine Gaillon (Place Gaillon). The menu changes according to the seasons but you can enjoy house classics at any time - lobster salad or turbot with boletus mushrooms are ideal for New Year's Eve.

Parade on the Champs-Elysées

On the day after your feast, head for Avenue des Champs-Elysées! Bands, parades of performers from around the world, jugglers and acrobats transform the world's most beautiful avenue into a glittering procession from 2.00 p.m. The atmosphere is festive, and the confetti cannons are fully loaded with multicoloured paper petals!  Sing, dance or just go along to cheer on the artists. Don't forget to take warm gloves and scarves. You can continue the party in the aisles of the Christmas market as you stop for mulled wine and chocolate waffles. Of course, you may prefer to toast the New Year once more with a glass of sparkling champagne before returning to your inviting room at the Chess Hotel.
