Café Marly; A taste of the grandeur of Royalty

Categories : Flavors and Gastronomy, published on : 11/7/14

Combining the grandeur of the royal past with the chic interior design of today, the Café Marly is simply unique. With a sophisticated ambience, superb continental cuisine and one of the most striking views in Paris, this superior restaurant offers a treat for all the senses. We at The Chess Hotel have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending the Café Marly for an experience you will always remember.

A restaurant situated amidst the magnificence of the Louvre

Established in 1994, the Café Marly boasts one of the most enviable locations in Paris. Situated under the arcades of the Richelieu Wing of the Louvre Museum, it looks out upon this magnificent former royal residence and the renowned inverted pyramid designed by Ieoh Ming Pei.

The restaurant is owned by the Costes Brothers, Gibert and Thierry, whose establishments are a byword for style and elegance. The interior design is by the renowned creators Olivier Gagnère and Yves Taralon and offers a sleek contemporary look with padded banquettes, gilded wood panelling and high ceilings that evoke the Louvre’s past as a royal residence.

A refined and traditional French cuisine is served from 8:00 am until late evening, with breakfast, snacks, lunch, brunch and evening dinner presented with style and aplomb. The food is appealing, with plenty of character, and yet is not pretentious.

Celebrities and the jet set come here to dine, and you never know who you might see. Yet even this pales into insignificance beside the exceptional view. Sit out on the terrace and watch the world go by in true Parisian style.
