Categories : Exhibitions and Museums, published on : 9/1/22

Every year in Paris, the end of summer and arrival of autumn marks the start of new exhibitions, some highly anticipated and others more of a surprise. Take advantage of your stay at the Chess Hotel to immerse yourself in the cultural energy of Paris! Here are some ideas for you…

Two radically different artists

Although they both practiced their art in the first half of the 20th century, Frida Khalo and Edvard Munch represent totally different aesthetic worlds. Learn about this intriguing contrast by first visiting the retrospective at the Musée d'Orsay devoted to the Norwegian artist who famously created The Scream. Discover the richness and complexity of his creativity via the hundred or so works featured. Then head to the Palais Galliera for the exhibition entitled Frida Khalo: Beyond Appearances. This intimate look into the personal world of the Mexican painter, through artifacts from the home where she was born and raised is accompanied, on September 15th, by an electro event evening.

Treasures on display

A fifteen-minute walk from the Chess Hotel takes you to the Louvre exhibition, where, from October 12th a new exhibition entitled Things: A History of Still Life invites you to reflect on the relationship between objects and their representation from prehistory to the present day. In a constant dialogue between the works and the artists, still life finds its place in the history of art. Finally, don't miss the sublime retrospective of the jewellery house FRED at the Palais de Tokyo. More than 85 years of creation are traced through hundreds of unique pieces, archives, drawings and photographs. Please note that entry is by reservation only!
